Florida Fire Marshalls Crowd Control Certification Course (all experience levels)
Presented by the Florida Fire Marshalls and Inspectors Association
The Florida Fire Prevention Code requires that all places of assembly, included tented events, must have at least (1) crowd manager or crowd manager supervisor. An Assembly occupancy as per the fire code is where there is a gathering of 50 or more persons for deliberation, worship, entertainment, eating, drinking, amusement, awaiting transportation or similar uses or used as a special amusement building. (NFPA 101, Section 12.7.6). The Fire Marshal’s Office will be issuing a violation to assembly occupancies without trained crowd managers. The course will conclude with a short written examination. All attendees successfully completing the training course will be awarded a personalized ID Card and a separate registration form and $50 fee must be paid to FFMIA.

Changes at Sunrise Sports & Entertainment

Sunrise Sports & Entertainment has restructured the company’s sales and service department for the Florida Panthers and the BB&T Center. Newly promoted Senior Vice President of Sales & Service Ryan McCoy will continue to oversee the department, with Shawn Kuzmin joining the organization as vice president of sales and fan experience. Also joining the organization is Ryan Bertschmann as executive director of ticket sales. In addition, Director of Service & Retention Kathleen Malara has expanded her role to overseeing all service and hospitality, including season tickets. Also, Director of Premium Seating Brett Weisbrot, who has been with the company for more than seven years, will now oversee all BB&T Center suite sales.

Kudos to our great team! A special thanks to all the PTT staff that worked on the Latin Billboard Awards Show!

As we all know, team work is the key to a successful event. Last week, our crew and staff showed valiant teamwork and the motivation to carry on the PTT name.

We greatly appreciate those of you who gave it your all and kept your schedules flexible in order for us to have full support and accomplish our goal, a great setup and show!

Among those of our crew and staff who worked last week, a few truly depicted what it takes to shine and be the team.

Here’s a little about them:

Christopher Newell and Jorge Iglesias along with Jorge Acosta, worked closely in the scenic department, providing excellent carpentry and maintenance of it. Together, with the help of Anthony Oropesa and Elmer Vallejo (our rigging and down rigging team), they created just the right feel for the audience to enjoy the artists and mood of the show.

Pawel Krawiec, a stagehand and one of our newest additions to the team, excelled while assisting with the setup of the Red Carpet. Pawel gave it his all, regardless of the sweltering heat. Our account rep, Lance Joubert was happy to communicate that our PTT team worked well with the production, which in turn, made his job easy and fun!

In-house, Anthony Kessler, Staff and Project Manager and Liana Horta, our Administrative Executive put forth long hours, worked tirelessly to coordinate every aspect and really deserve a huge “Thank You!” for their own amazing and professional best!

May is already showing signs of great gigs to come so, continue to shine; we notice and value your efforts.

Great teamwork! The last two weeks have been hectic for everyone that worked with PTT of Florida on the awards show. We greatly appreciate that people stayed flexible regarding days and hours. Some crew members were real stand out stars for getting the job done (we’ll tell you later…). We thank staff and crew for keeping those cel phones on and checking emails.

We’re heading into May with a lot of client work as well. So, keep us notified of your availability. Lots of great gigs coming up and if you shine, we do notice and value that extra effort.

The Hottest Scoreboard in Miami (at the AAA), Just Got Hotter!!

AAA has one of the most state-of-art scoreboards in the country. So, it was an honor to see PTT of Florida’s name emblazoned on it during the dynamic Heat v. Bulls game last Saturday. Thanks to our great employees, friends, and clients, PTT of Florida group night at the Heat was a packed event, with ticket buyers showing just how much we love the show both in front and behind the stage!

ABOUT THE BOARD:
In 1998, Christopher Janney was commissioned to create the scoreboard for the new American Airlines Arena, home of the Miami Heat basketball team. Unveiled New Year’s Eve, 2000, it was designed as both a visually dynamic form and a piece of “performance sculpture.”

Unlike other arena scoreboards which are visually massive and solid, this piece is composed of two aluminum geodesic spheres, one inside the other, making it strong, lightweight and visually transparent. Thirty feet in diameter, the piece resembles a giant sea anemone with tentacles spreading out in all directions. The “tentacles” hold the several clocks along with the replay, statistics, and advertising boards. Constructed in a brushed aluminum finish, the piece is illuminated by computer-controlled lights, changing color over time.

An integral part of the opening ceremonies before each Heat game, Turn Up The Heat is crowd-interactive—changing scoreboard colors from dark to light as the crowd raises the volume of their voices—culminating with a dynamic fire-works display.
